Tonight I Have Two planned Venues.
My first visit is to see a singer of known to me, her name is Karen Starr, was appearing at the Nash. I remember Karen from some years back, she still has the voice, she dresses well, like the shoes; she opened with Dusty Springfield's,'I Only Want To Be With You'. There was a Bette Midler song, 'The Rose'. Then a Lionel Richie song, 'My Angel'. Karen is a big fan of Lionel
Richie and continued with more of his songs. I liked the Carpenters 'Mister
Postman'. A Timi Yuro song was. 'Hurt', more associated with the likes of Tom Jones and Joe Longthorne, Karen made a good job of it. There was, 'Love Hurts', a Jim Capaldi song. It must be the season of bringing songs back from yesteryear. Karen closed her set with an Abba Song called. song called, 'Andante'. A good set Karen Starr.
On to see a couple of my friends in a busy Ferry-bridge Progressive club. Not for a review but for a catch up. Oh well seeing as I'm here; it's John and Sharon Fitzpatrick. We had a couple of things to chat about. John was in fine voice, he mixed his songs up and people here in the club were telling me his first set went down really well. He was into his second set. He sang his favourite spoof 'Penny Arcade', which is 'My Little Lady', I enjoyed a medley of Matt Monro songs. John has a brilliant tribute show to the great man. He actually sang a few of his songs tonight. John closed the set with a song I just love to hear, 'Red', a song by Daniel Merryweather. A super set.
