Crofton Wmc was my first stop tonight.
Tonight was the Wakefield Concert Secretaries Federation meeting.
The compere was that well dressed entertainer, John Mycroft.
John sang 'When You Walk In The Room' and, ' Can You The Love Tonight', He introduced the first artiste, Sam Oliver, very smart on stage, Sam has a fine voice, his opening song was, 'Bring Him Home', one from Etta James, 'At Last'. A Frank Sinatra song followed, 'That's Life'. More songs from, Luther Van Dross and others, Sam closed his set with, 'Nessun Dorma'. It was good to see singer/entertainer, Mike Everley here in Crofton Club who later sang in a duet with John Mycroft; together they sang, ‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling’, a Righteous Brothers hit song from many years ago.
The next act; two girls duo, Madeline and Katalina who are, 'Mad Katz', looking lovely in their short black dresses, like the shoes, they opened their part of the show with, 'Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This', lovely voices and harmonies and great dance moves. The next songs were, was, 'Twisting The Night Away' and 'Forget You', more songs followed. Some nice banter from the girls. There was 'Mustang Sally' amongst others in a medley, loved it girls. Some Motown followed. A medley of sixties got some dancers, (Well one) on the floor. Good set girls.
There was a break here for the raffle and NO, I didn't win.
The first act in the second part of the show was a young lady called Analise, she has a good strong voice, a nice stage outfit and a good presence, like the shoes. The first song was 'No Place I'd Rather Be', a new one on me, a good up tempo opener. I loved her version of, 'Over The Rainbow'. Analise rocked it up with M People's, 'Movin' On Up'. There was an Ed Sheeran song called, ‘Thinking Out Loud'. There was a Sam Smith song called, 'Stay With Me'. This young lady is excellent.. She finished her set with a Bruno Mars song. Liked it...
The final act tonight, Albert Taylor Junior, dressed casually smart, he opened with a Freddie Mercury song, 'Somebody To Love', this is, I think, a Freddie Mercury tribute show. Well all the songs I heard from him were Freddie Mercury and Queen Songs, quite good though.
A good all round show. Pictures coming soon.
