The First Heat.
There was quite a good attendance at Westgate Common for the first heat of the Wakefield Star Search. Jonathan Carroll opened with a song, ‘All Night Long’; he introduced the team of judges, the lights man and the competition producer, Steve Paige. The first contestant was Halifax girl, Amyleigh Wall who has a good voice; she was wearing a short black dress with shoes to match. Amyleigh sang in her set ‘I Have Nothing’ and ‘Rolling InThe Deep’. Next was Hemsworth singer.
Lucas Primmer, what a voice he has; Lucas sang ‘Cry Me A River’ and an up tempo of ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’. Castleford man Sean Woodward looked very smart in a suit. He has gained more confidence since the last time I saw him. ‘Cry Me A River’ and ‘Clementine’ were his best songs.
After the interval Jonathan Carroll introduced Leeds two boy duo, ‘Destination Unknown’; both guys have fine voices and the harmonies were very good as they sang, ’Bye Bye Love’ and ‘ Miss You Nights’..
The final act was young Amelia Davis from Barnsley; she looked nice in a long pink evening dress, [I liked the shoes]. Amy has a fine voice and sang in her set, ’I Just Cant Get Enough’ and ‘What A Wonderful World’.
Three acts will go to the ¼ finals and the ones chosen by the judges were, in no particular order, Destination Unknown, Amelia Davis and Lucas Primmer.. Commiserations to runners up Amyleigh Wall and Sean Woodward who each gave a good performance...
One of the judges is Laura McCormick whose dad Michael was celebrating his Birthday... Happy Birthday Michael..
Pictured below... Amelia Davis, Destination Unknown, Jonathan Carroll, (Compere), Lucas Primmer. Doreen and Peter, (Always there supporting the competition). And a group picture of the winners and JC.
