Wakefield, Pontefract & District Concert Secretaries Federation Meeting...
Horbury club was the venue for the above monthly meeting when five acts were on view. Compere Jonathan Carroll opened the show with ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now’. He introduced Doncaster’s Danny Barton,a well
dressed young man with a powerful voice. A couple of his songs were, Elton John’s, ‘Your Song’ and Mike and the Mechanics, ‘The Living Years’. A good opening spot. Jonathan then introduced Wakefield lady, ’Natalie Ann’. She looked rather glam in a pair of black trousers and a bright red bodice top,(Liked the shoes). Natalie sang in her set, Adele’s, ‘Rolling In The Deep’ and ‘Just The
Way You Are’. She sang that really well. Jonathan introduced the last act in the first half, 18 years old Luke Murgatroyd looking very smart in a suit and tie. Luke sang, ‘This Is The Moment’ and Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl. There were two more acts in the, one was Laura Ellis who has a fine voice and knows what songs suit her audiences. Jonathan Craroll told me later that she was really good. 50.s and 60’s guitar vocalist ‘Damion' was also a great success on a night of top entertainment. He sang songs from the 50's and 60's fro which he is well known.
Well, you can't be everywhere can you...
It was good to see Lee Lambert and La Musica in the club giving their support.
The Haley’s At Gilly’s...
Becky and Joanne, guitar vocalists were in fine voice and Brian was on form on guitar on Tuesday at Gilly’s CMC; they were singing and playing to a full house. I have commented before on the order given to the acts at Gilly’s; well tonight was no
different, in fact one of my friends, Sue,said, "You could hear a pin drop". The two girls voices are absolutely superb. Note perfect harmony and both Beck and Joanne sing solo songs within the sets. ‘My Best Friend’ and ‘All That Glitters Is Not Gold’ were two really outstanding songs....
