A very busy Thornhill Edge Club staged a charity show in aid of the:-
'Candle Lighters’.
“Fighting Children’s Cancer”.
Appearing in the show was Laura McCormick, a lovely singer who gave an excellent performance; Laura chose songs that went down well with the audience. She looked great in a black ¾ length dress adorned with glitter near the low neck line.A few of her songs were, ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’, (I do love Motown music),‘Always Remember Me’, by the Noisettes and ‘Always On My Mind’. The Willie Nelson version. You can book Laura via the Gordon Kellett Agency, Telephone 0113 270 2301.
Next up was Heidi Mills who appeared as Pixie Lott, she was wearing (nearly) a very short black dress she sang a few of Pixie Lott songs which included perhaps the one that everybody associates with Pixie Lott, ‘Mama Do’, she also sang 'Use Somebody and Cry Me Out'. Her set was rounded off withBeyonce's ‘Ave Maria,’. A super performance...
Next on was John Fitzpatrick who appeared as Matt Monro; John was very smartly dressed a la Matt Monro; he has a superb voice and sang in his set, ‘Born Free’, ‘Walk Away’,and ‘A Portrait Of My Love’. In his performance John told the story of Matt Monro’s rise to fame. A very interesting show ; well done John Fitzpatrick.
During the interval there were several fund raising activities that included, Head Shaving in which David and Elaine ended up as bald as badgers. (I didn’t know that Badgers were bald you know). There was a young man there, (Heidi’s boy friend who had a leg wax, (Ouch). There was a raffle with over 40 donated prizes; there was an auction in which there were lots of donated items. The auctioneer did a great job. He sold a stuffed dog, (A soft Toy) twice and the man who bought it firs even started the bidding the second time around. The amount raised on the night was in excess of a fantastic... wait for it.... £2,000 folks, superb...
The final act was Graham Stevens who appeared as the lead singer, Paul Heaton from the Beautiful South. This is the first time I have seen Graham’s tribute show, I like it! ... He sang in his set, ‘I Love You From the Bottom Of My Pencil Case’, I’ll Sail This Ship Alone and Carry On Regardless’. Each of the tribute acts dressed as the Stars they were portraying would have dressed; they can be booked from the Mayfare Agency on 0113 289 7309
A good show that raised lots of much needed cash... All the acts gave their services Free Of charge... To everyone who helped make the night a success, Thank You...
