Rosie Doonan’s Band At The New Inn
Pictured Left To Right; Rosie Doonan, Sam Lawrence and Gary Stewart.
One of my favourite singers on the folk music scene is Rosie Doonan; she appeared with her band at Tommy Turtle’s pub, The ‘New Inn’, Walton, near Wakefield. Rosie was playing keyboards, ukulele and guitar as well as singing in the enchanting voice that everyone loves. On guitar was Gary Stewart who also sang harmonies and is an excellent, “Whistler”. His top harmonies are a joy to hear. Next is Sam Lawrence who plays, guitar, mandolin, piano accordion and, wait for it, Uilleann pipes. What a band; amongst Rosie’s songs. (Written by her) were, ‘Lay Your Love’, ‘Lady Blue’, (This was for Lionel) and one from Gary called. ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. Although I missed the first set I thoroughly enjoyed the second set
