A Very Busy ‘Oliver Twist’
As I was passing the Oliver Twist pub on Thursday night I saw the car park was full; being nosy I called in and the place was heaving. There was a birthday and retirement party for HGV driver, [or did she say a Carer?] Marie going on; this probably accounted for maybe a third of the attendance. The restaurant was very busy and the lounge too was full. There were many more in the Childrens room and the tap room. It was great to see this pub coming back to life; Neil and Jeff, the proprietors, stage top class entertainment every Thursday and this week it was Jo Little, comedienne,; Jo was in sparkling form and for anyone who thinks her show is blue, let me tell you that this show was anything but. Jo is a very funny lady and she can sing too. When I went in I planned to be there for just half an hour but I was enjoying her show so much I stayed for about an hour. Jo sang a couple of songs that were well appreciated by the audience, ‘Stupid Cupid and Memory’. I have heard Jo sing many times but her version of Elaine Paige's 'Memory' blew me away. The rest of her show was hilarious comedy.
Neil and Jeff told me that there are lots of top class artistes booked in and the Oliver Twist is now advertising in the Wakefield Review; the booking agency is TOTT, (Tricks Of The Trade). Onward and upwards Neil and Jeff. The Oliver Twist comes to life once again...
