First Quarter Final of Star Search...
Report from Sue Cunniff...
It was a good house at Glasshoughton WMC for the first 1/4 final of Star Search 2011.
Jonathan Carroll opened the show with, ‘Lovely Day’. The first contestant was Castleford girl, Emily Peters; she looked her stage outfit, and boy, she could shake those tassels on her skirt. Emily sang in her set, ‘This Kiss and Make You Feel My Love’.
Enter Manchester’s Danielle Hobson who looked a million dollars in
black and pink cocktail dress with matching accessories, (Shoes)...
‘Somebody To Love and Angels’ were just two of songs in her powerful vocal
performance; light and shade where it mattered.
Courtney Gaskell was next; Courtney has a powerful voice and again knows where
light and shade is needed. ‘You Gave Love A Bad Name and I Still Believe’ were two
of her songs. She was wearing a beautiful long black evening dress. What a singer...
After the interval Jonathan introduced Jamie McKnight whoexcelled himself with a
great performance. There were dance moves that WayneSleep would have been proud of and jokes that any comedian would be proud of. He was dressed very smartly in a grey suit; he sang in his set, ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This and It’s All Coming Back To Me Now’.
The final act was a Cliff Richard tribute act by the name of Andrew Lloyd. Andrew hails from deepest Horbury. He was dressed in Jeans and jacket with (LTS) sparkly shoes. ‘When The Girl In Your Arms and The Young Ones’were a couple of Andrew's songs...
Going on to the semi finals are.. Danielle Hobson, Jamie McKnight and Emily Peters... Well done guys...
