Debbie Francis Popular At The Ex-Servicemens.
This lady from Barnsley, Debbie Francis is a super singer; she appeared at a very busy Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Pontefract. I arrived just in time, (For the bingo). I keep reading comments from acts who detest the game but folks; it keeps many clubs afloat and shouldn’t be dissed. When Debbie, who is very popular with the members here at The Ex-Service Men’s Club, took the stage she was dressed in a Basque over a short skirt. Her songs included, ‘It’s My Life’, ‘An All Time Low’, You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth’ and ‘The Summer Of ‘69’. I was thinking as I sat listening to Debbie’s voice how much like Karen Carpenter and Cher she sounds. A great voice from a great lady, Debbie Francis…
Trevor’s Dance Set...
Trevor Craig always tells me I should be there for his dance set so I put that right on Sunday night at Crigglestone club; he was on stag when I arrived, he was in good voice and in this Dance Set there were plenty of dancers on the floor. ‘Because The Night’, an excellent version of ‘Human’, ‘Sometimes When We Touch’, Forever In Blue Jeans and ‘I Found Someone To Take Away The Heartache’. He finished the set with a couple of slow smoochy songs, ‘The Rose’ and ‘You Raise Me Up’. A very good entertaining set from Trevor Craig…
Vince A Hit At Girnhill Lane
Ossett singer, Vince Berry, has been around the circuit for many years now and is still a good ‘un. He has appeared in quite a few charity shows over the years and is known for his immaculate stage wear. When I saw him recently in The Girnhill Lane club in Featherstone he was in full flow on his first set. Vince has a strong voice and has some good equipment. Some of his songs were from the‘60’s including the songs of, ‘ The Searchers, The Beatles, The McGill Five, Brian Poole & The Tremeloes, Freddie & The Dreamers and The Four Pennies...
