Harry Clark, (AKA Simply H) was the artiste on stage at a busy Horbury club on Boxing Day. I know Harry as Mr Smooth because he has a really smooth voice for his ballads; he also has the right voice for his rock and roll songs. he carries some great sound equipment and the latest in technology with an I pad, (I think) which contains all his backing tracks. Pat and I arrived in time to see him start his second set; he looked very smart in black trousers, black shirt and a salmon pink jacket, (LTS). Some of his sings were from the 50’sand 60’s that included Eddie Arnold’s, ‘Make The World Go Away’, songs by Marty Wilde, Bobby Vee, Jim Reeves, Bobby Darin, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. A few quiz questions and this audience got all the answers.
Earlier in the day there was a children’s party with Children’s Entertainer, Matthew J and a visit from the man in red. I was told that the club was packed.
I was also told that the club’s concert secretary, Stan Breedon will retire from his post on New Year’s Eve. I’m sure all the committee and members wish him well. Stan is now the president of the Wakefield, Pontefract & District Concert Secretaries Federation... His successor as Horbury’s Concert Secretary is Andy Johnson; Good luck Andy, I’m sure you will do a fine job...
