Earlsheaton WMC. Welcomes Sasha T
Earlsheaton WMC, near Dewsbury is quite a big club; it was very quiet when we arrived on Saturday night when the artiste, ‘Sasha T’, was setting up her equipment with the help of her brother. By the time she was ready to go on stage the club seemed to fill up. Sasha ‘T’ has a nice voice, a pleasing personality, good equipment and knows how to entertain. She was wearing a lovely red dress compete with cape. I loved her sparkly open toed boots. Sasha sang in her first set, ‘Shattered Glass, Mama Do, Sweet Little Lies and Hit Me With Your Best Shot’. Sasha changes her songs from time to time to suit the audience; one club she performed in recently asked her if she sang some modern songs, they told her, ‘We are old but
not dead’ so she duly obliged. Sasha is a very good entertainer and I would
recommend her to most venues. You can book Sasha T through the Al Crossland
agency.
Horbury Club Welcomes Triple X
This is a band I saw a few months ago at another local club and I wanted Pat to see them too. The Triple X line up is Kevin Davids, lead singer, Robbie Grimes on lead guitar and Colin ‘Rambo’ Ruskin is on Rhythm guitar, who are very good harmony singers. They were on stage when we arrived and the members in the full concert room were enjoying their show.
The were playing and singing the songs of Elvis Presley, Dire Straits, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters and many more. The afore mentioned Scissor Sisters song was one called ‘Comfortably Numb’, I like that one. Triple X is a brilliant band and I would say go and see them when you see them billed at a venue near you.
Kevin told me that he has been on a BBC 3 show with Mark Benton City Lights and Northern Lights when he played the part of ‘Sid’ (I’m with Stupid). Well done Kevin.
In these days of uncertainty in the clubs it was good to see a full house at Horbury club; yes bingo is a major factor as is ‘Open The Box’ which this week stood at £625, (I didn’t win it), this is a good attraction and it is always done in a light hearted manner. It also helps with a good and united committee. We have other clubs in the wakefield and district area with good committees who are equally dedicated to bringing the best to their clubs for the members.
Stan Breedon, the club’s concert secretary is retiring on New Year’s Eve after many years in clubland. Have a happy retirement Stan.
He has booked Natasha Parx for this occasion and on Christmas Eve it’s top comedian, Dave Ferry.
