Zara In Half Penny Lane…
Halfpenny Lane WMC was very quiet on Saturday night; maybe it was the bonfires and fireworks displays going on in the area. We arrived at the club at around 8-15 and met up with Hull singer, ‘Zara’. She was about to go on stage but had time for a chat first. She was accompanied to the club by another Hull singer, ‘Stu Johnson’; he is recovering from a bad car accident but thankfully is on the mend. Zara, who was dressed in a short blue dress and (LTS) opened her show with a tried and trusted, ‘Black Velvet’. Her voice is very strong and song introductions are clear. More of her songs were, Lady Ga Ga’s, ‘I Was Born This Way’, Shania Twain‘s, ‘Honey I’m Home’ and a superb version of Frank Sinatra’s, ‘I Got The World On A String’. A wonderful
singer/entertainer. The afore mentioned Stu Johnson was encouraged to sing a
couple of songs which were, ‘Amazed’ and ‘Brown Eyed Girl’. He has an excellent
voice but naturally was a bit rusty; Stu hopes to be back in full swing in December.
