Dave Wows Glasshoughton...
The Legend that is Dave Betton was the Star artiste on stage at a busy Glasshoughton WMC on Saturday night; he appeared on stage dressed immaculately. He looks rather like Mickey Rooney, or is it James Cagney or even with a bit of imagination, Charlie Drake, there was even a hint of Norman Wisdom in there. Dave opened his show with ‘So Lucky In My Life’, a song written by Bill Owen of ‘Last Of The Summer Wine’ fame. Dave has a wonderful tenor voice and a great sense of humour, more of his songs were, ‘Don’t Ever Leave Me’, what a lovely song written by Dave himself, ‘The Working Man and You Were Always On My Mind’, in which he mimicked he voices of Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson, finishing in his own voice. I liked his John Wayne and Walter Brennan sketch. lots of Daves act is comedy so I wont spoil it with repeating any of his jokes, you will have to see him for yourself. You don’t see acts like this any more in the clubs. Dave Betton is a one off and what showbiz is all about. You can see him in Blackpool where he is well known as "Mr Blackpool"...
Dave Betton is set to appear at Crigglestone WMC in Wakefield WF4 3EB, on Sunday October 30th.... Don't Miss Him...
Leigh Tetley in Outwood.
We arrived too late to catch Leigh Tetley’s second set but we waited for the dance set; she appeared on stage dressed in black shiny trousers, a sparkling top and a
black sequined waistcoat; she looked great. Leigh opened her set with a lively,
‘Get Ready’ followed by ‘Higher And Higher, Do You Love Me’, an up tempo
‘Sometimes When We Touch, Valerie’ and finishing with ‘The Final Count Down’.An
excellent show from this young lady. You have just got to go and see"LeighTetley".
