'What A Good Saturday Night Out’,
Pat and I started off at the Prince Of Wales club in The Nevison area of Pontefract; on stage was the superb singer ‘Julieanna’. She looked amazing in a blue sparkling evening dress with shoes to match. Julieanna’s lovely voice is opera trained and it shows. That doesn’t mean that she sings opera all night. ‘Xanadu’, I Was Born To Sing Forever’, ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ and ‘This Is The Moment’ were just a few of her programme. Julieanna tailors her show to suit the audience and it certainly worked for her. I was mesmerised with her voice and stage presentation.

Carrie Michaels At The George V11 Club.
The club was very busy as it always is on Saturday night; on stage was the lovely Carrie Michaels who looked wonderful in her stage outfit’,black trousers and a white top, very casual but effective.Carrie's voice was lovely as usual. I noticed that she has lost weight since I last saw her; Carrie later told me that she has in fact lost ‘FIVE’stones and she looks great for it. She has added more songs to her repertoire which included ‘Price Tag’, ‘All The Lovers’ and I loved her version of,
‘I Will Follow Him’ from the film'Sister Act'. The harmonies and the sound which were looked after by Jeannie, were lovely. Carrie will appear at the St. Johns Terrace club in Normanton, [between Wakefield and Castleford] Tonight, Sunday August 28th...
Charity Show At The Lupset Hotel.
Two weeks in succession at the Lupset were fund raising shows for Martin House Children’s Hospice. This week it was Ian Howarth who is a local Undertaker. Ian was the original guitarist with Black Lace,( Aga Doo- Doo-Doo), ok I’ll pass on that one,. The Lupset’s landlord, Mick McGinley was their manager. Ian has a fine singing voice and plays a mean guitar; in the set I saw he included, ‘You Can Leave Your Hat On, ’Sweet Home Alabama’ and my favourite one from him was Snow Patrol's ‘Chasing Cars’. A very good performance which helped to raise over £500 and with last weeks, Scratch Band’s Live Juke Box the total stands at around £650. Before we arrived there was a game of Bingo in which the winner won a Guitar Kit, (Guitar, Amplifier and Strap). Donated by my friend and Local Pub Historian, Kevin Grundy. Well done Ian, Kevin and Mick for their great effort.
