Hopetown Liberal WMC Welcomes Sasha Lawrence.
Sasha is the lady who discovered Lee Lambert who has gone on to make a name for himself. Tonight Sasha opened her show with an energetic version of, ' Don't Rain On My Parade', she looked fantastic in a long pink dress with a sequinned top, like the shoes. Sasha has come out of retirement for one night only and I'm so pleased she has. Her next song, 'You Don't Have Say You Love Me'. a Dusty Springfield classic. I loved Sasha's version of a Diana Ross hit from the past, 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me'. Her stage Presence is excellent. There were more from the 60's in the set, 'Stupid Cupid', and 'Lipstick On Your Collar', both from Connie Francis and 'I Only Wanna Be With You'. from Dusty Springfield. Ossett Central A new singer to me, I soon found out not so new, Andy James remembered me from a few years ago when he was in a talent competition, Andy, has a good strong voice, a good variety of material to suit the members. Some of the songs were, the the songs of Paper Lace, 'The Night Chicago Died', and 'Billy Be A Don't Be A Hero' like sister and brother, 'I'm A Believer', Monkees, and a Tom Jones song was, 'Till'. There were songs by The Drifters . I didn't see a great deal of his act having travelled some distance but what I heard I liked.
Alverthorpe Club was quite busy tonight, my fourth club today/ night. On stage it's Lauren Faye Moss. Looking great as usual, l like Lauren's Shoes. She was singing songs by Cher when I arrived, well into the dance set. She was being well received and sung the songs the members wanted. Right now she is sing a Barbara Streisand song, 'People'. There was an Elvis song, 'In The Ghetto', an Amy Winehouse hit song, 'Re Hab', it's not long ago I saw Lauren in another club. Another great show from Lauren Faye Moss. Halfpenny Lane WMC Welcomed ELVIS Into The Building. Peter Binns aka, DaddyCool and Elvis Presley.Daddy was in full throttle when I arrived, he was singing, 'Shake A Tail Feather'. The tracks are excellent and so is Daddy'svoice. Rip It Up', came next, the members were enjoying the music as I was, just my era. Otis Reading was featured along with Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder, the dark glasses gave me a clue, Daddy looked good in his stage attire, like the shoes. Must be warm, he's taken his jacket off. More singers were, The Rolling Stones, Andy Williams and many many more. Here we go now with a Motown medley, There was the Monkees, 'Daydream Believer', this part turned into a sing along. Pete, (Daddy Cool) closed this part of his show with Elvis songs 'Jailhouse Rock'. 'Heartbreak Hotel' and Hound Dog'. Later, in the show Daddy Cool, 'Pete', changed into Elvis Presley clothes, they looked well good. I have seen that part of the show and yes, it's good. some more of the songs Daddy Cool sang were, 'Uptight Everything Is Alright', by Stevie Wonder.Chuck Berry's, 'Route 66'. An Andy Williams song was, 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You, The Monkees, 'Daydream Believer', and closed this part of his show. It's Saturday. Time For Mr and Mrs T's Night Out. Our first visit was at the George Vth club in Castleford to see, KTStar. She sings as a solo artiste and sings as an Adele tribute singer. Katie also sings in a highly successful duo called, Epica Duet. The club was mega busy when we arrived, I could have sat on Jan's knee. Colin eventually found a seat for us. Well Katie was a little off colour tonight but she didn't let this detract from her performance. She was dressed immaculately for the stage, like the shoes. Her opening song was, 'The Wind Beneath My Wings', one of Bette Midlers big hits, the next song was Shirley Bassey song, 'Diamonds Are Forever', this is from the second James Bond movie. Yes, the voice is still as good as always. 'I Dreamed A Dream', came next. The vibrato in Katie's voice is exquisite and well controlled, her range is superb. I just loved her version of, 'Where The Boys Are', there was, 'Walking After Midnight', was Sandy Shaw's, 'Puppet On A String'. Followed by Lulu's, 'Boom Bang A Bang', 'the final song in the set was a. Cilla Black song, 'You're My World', a brilliant set from the one and only, K.T. Star. More of her songs were Que Sera Sera. On stage tonight was Andy Gale looking very dapper in a smart silver grey suit, shirt and tie, like the shoes. His stage moves were good. His first song was Van Morrison's, 'Brown Eyed Girl', next was the sort of music I like, that's swing at its best, Andy obliged with a couple of Sinatra songs. 'Come Fly With Me', and, 'Ain't That A Kick In The Head'. Andy has just has the voice for swing. There was a Michael Buble song. A medley of rock & roll favourites featuring, Elvis Presley. One that my wife Pat would love, a Neil Diamond song, 'Forever On Blue Jeans', and 'Love Train', one by the O'Jays. There were people at the back of room having a great time, Andy closed the first set with an Otis Reading song, 'Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay'. A great entertainer who has added humour into his act. That's Andy Gale folks.. The B&S Club Welcomes Viva.. A nice busy club tonight for this excellent duo, the lead singer, with a very powerful voice, is, Lena, she was dressed in Black, Like The Shoes, the keyboards player is, Gavin who is also good with the close harmonies and he is really something on those ivories. The show opened with a couple of rock songs, one of Alice Cooper's, 'Poison', followed by Journey's, 'Don't Stop Believing'. Very powerful openers in this set, following was more with, 'Rock Star'.
