The Vocaltutor Grand Final.
Westgate Common was very busy on Wednesday night when ten young singers were hopeful of winning this junior Vocal Tutor talent competition/show and just about any one of them could have, so high was the standard. Jonathan Carroll opened the show with a song, ‘Get Ready’. He then introduced the team, Steve Paige on sound, Pete the Meat? on the lights, the bar staff, Diana who sells the raffle tickets and the panel of judges. Alan Little, Laura McCormick, Derek Jones, Katie-Jo and Robert Kerr, pictured below.
The first contestant was Sophie Whittaker who has a lovely voice and looked lovely in her short blue dress with shoes to match, real class, Sophie sang ‘Forget You’. Next was Chloe May Jukes who looked really trendy in her outfit; what a powerful voice this young lady has, Chloe sang ‘Do It Like A Dude’ and ‘Papa Can You Hear Me. Angel Wareham was the next competitor; she has the voice of an Angel, it's beautiful. She sang a lovely rendition of ‘Memory from Cats and a Queen song, Somebody To Love’, another top voice. Act number four was Helen Starz, a very tall and beautiful young lady, they grow up so quickly don't they. She looked terrific and sang in her set, ’You Lost Me and Start Without You’. The final act in the first half was Anya Simpson who looked great in a pair of soft leather trousers and a black top; the two were divided by a silver belt; I liked the shoes, classy.... She has a great voice and sang ‘ Russian Roulette and The Voice Within’, [so that’s where it came from]
Opening part two after a song from Jonathan Carroll, (America) was Girlz Girlz Girlz; three girls who sang in beautiful harmony; they looked a picture. They sang in their set, ‘Shine A Light and Fix You in which one of the girls, Danielle, played guitar. Allie Lawton was our next competitor; she was wearing a black dress and has a mighty powerful voice, Allie sung for us, ‘White Horse and Price Tag’. Enter Lauren Stead; she wore a black and white dress adorned with silver glitter; Lauren sang, ‘Stepping Stones’; a terrific voice. Megan Rooker was next; Megan has a superb voice, excellent presentation and looked great. She sang for us, ‘At Last and Someone Like You’. The final act in this magnificent display of talent was Danielle Atkinson who sang, ‘Cry Me Out and I’m Sorry’. Well what a show, every girl deserved to be in the first three but... we can only have three. Who were Chloe May Jukes and Megan Rooker who were runners up to the eventual winner, “Anya Simpson”.
