MARTY LEE...
The Beverly Arms – Ackworth…
The Beverley Arms on the round - about in Ackworth was my first destination on Tuesday night; I’d heard there was top professional artiste appearing there. It was one of the best voices in clubland, ‘Marty Lee’. What a voice this man has; as always he was immaculately dressed for his appearance. Resident compere Andy Dunn, also well dressed opened the show with a couple of numbers, ‘Like Sister And Brother’ and ‘Under The Board Walk’. Andy introduced Marty who opened his show with ‘Poetry In Motion’ and went on to sing songs from all eras. Some were the songs of Gene Pitney of whom he has a voice not unlike the great man, Bobby Vee, Matt Monro, Tony Christie, and many others.
In the next two weeks the artistes are Jon Dean and Amelia Davis. Andy has promised to let me know about the artistes for September and I will post the list on my blog…
It was good to see Louie Stephens in the pub; I’m sure he too will be booked in here…
