Prince Of Wales Hospice Show In Sharlston ARLFC.
There was a good crowd in to see this show organised by the Prince Of Wales Hospice staff. Compered by Jonathan Carroll who did a great job linking the show, and sound man Steve Paige who really knows which knobs to twiddle. The show was opened with a couple of songs by Jonathan who then introduced the first act,
The Man in Black, ‘Darren Dale’ he looked good in his stage attire. Darren sang amongst other songs ‘All That Matters To Me’ and ‘I Drove All Night’,
Next was Darren’s sister, ‘Emma Dale’ looking good in her outfit, a couple of her songs were, Blondie’s ‘21st Century’ and Elvis’s ‘Burning Love’.
The next act was Sarah Pollin, she too looked good in her stage outfit; Sarah sang ‘I’m Alive’ and ‘If You Believe’. I have to say this was a very moving song and Sarah did it justice.
In the interval there was a waxing session to raise money. People payed £1 to go and tear off a strip off the two Sharlston rugby players who had “Volunteered”? Louis and Phil were the two ‘Victims’. In the door raffle I was one off winning a mystery weekend for two. The main raffle was also drawn in the interval. (Nowhere near this time).
After the interval and another song from Jonathan Carroll we saw Lucas Primmer; this young man has a wonderful voice and sang in his set, ‘The Climb’ and ‘This is My Life’ he was joined on stage by Sarah to sing a couple of songs in harmony. ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and ‘Alone’ which sounded absolutely wonderful.
The lady herself, Amy Thomas, (Sue), took the stage and showed the other side of her talents; aside from being the Operations Manager at the Hospice, she has a wonderful singing voice’ a couple of her songs were ‘Someone Like You’ and Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me’.
Closing the show was a young man who had called in to see the show and have a drink; he is Gareth Yearsley, a very good entertainer who sings in a band on the club circuit. In his set Gareth sang, 'Dance With My Father' and the highlight of his set was Ceelo Green's 'Forget You'. A very good show well organised...
Sue. her sister Sharon and another lady called Amanda, (Amanda was the torcherer doing the waxing) are going on a Sahara Trek to raise more money for the Hospice. Just one word describes these people, "Dedication".
A sum in excess of £300 was raised on the night and Sue wishes to thank everyone for turning out in the rain...
