There were five contestants tonight all wanting to get to the ¼ finals; after Jonathan Carroll’s opening song, ‘Reach Out’, he introduced Charley Grace from Hemsworth. She was wearing a silver top over black trousers. She has a strong voice and chose to sing in her set, ‘Use Somebody and I think We’re Alone Now’.
Next was Lesley Carr from Middlestown; Lesley has an operatic style of voice; she wore a long yellow skirt and a black top. In her set she sang, ‘Tonight and The Music Of The Night’. Natalie-Anne from Wakefield was next; she has a lovely voice and was dressed in a sassy cocktail dress; [Liked the shoes]. Natalie-Anne sang, ‘Someone Like You and For One Night Only’.
After a short interval Jonathan sang a Lionel Richie song called, ‘Hello’.
He then introduced Horbury tribute singer, Andrew Lloyd; Andrew was dressed in a very smart suit complete with shirt and tie. He has a fine voice and sang a couple of Cliff Richard songs; ‘I Could Easily Fall In Love’ and All My Love’. He also sang songs by other artistes, Tommy Steele and Frank Sinatra spring to mind. This was my first viewing of Andrew and I liked what I heard.
The final act was a mother and daughter duo from Hull called Marie-Marie; both were dressed in long evening gowns, both have terrific voices and sing in perfect harmony. ‘Unchained Melody’ which they sung in Italian and, ‘Enough Is Enough,[No More Tears} were a couple of their impressive songs.
The three acts chosen for the quarter finals; Natalie-Anne, Charley Grace and Marie-Marie. Commiserations to Lesley and Andrew who gave us a great night of entertainment.
