Vocaltutor Junior Star Search…
There were more people in Westgate Common Club for the fourth heat of the Vocaltutor Junior Starsearch which compere Jonathan Carroll opened with ‘Gimme the Night’. There were 10 acts all vying for a place in the final on March 9th but only two can progress from the heat. First act was Ashton Roberts who looked trendy in her outfit. Ashton sang ‘Mama Do and Hurt’; Ashton has a nice voice but it sounded like a nervous spot. Next up was Mya Thompson who has quite a nice voice, Mya sang, ‘If I Ain’t Got You and You Make A Dream For Me’. The only boy on the show was Jamie Welsh who sang ‘Just The Way You Are and Rule The World’, I think this young man will have a lot to offer in about a years time. Twisted was next, a two girls duo; They sang ‘Telephone' and 'I Love The Way You Lie’. Both the girls in Twisted have good voices but one of them, Jess was nursing a cold. Closing the first half was a girl called Anya Simpson; Anya has a special voice and knows how to use it. She sang ‘I’m Alive and a very touching song called 'Oh Mother’, she finished the song by saying to her mum, “I Love You Mum”. After the interval Jonathan introduced Jess Pinder who is part of the aforesaid Twisted, Jess sang in her set, ‘I Look At You and Make You Feel My Love’.Although she was nursing that cold she gave a good account of herself. Leisha Marie was the next contestant; she has a superb voice and looked lovely. Leisha sang ‘Stay and Cool Rider’. Enter Angel Wareham who also has a strong voice but in my opinion was a little quiet when she started her set; it got stronger as she grew a little more confident, Angel sang the Beatles ’Yesterday and Elaine Paige's Memory’. The final act was a girl duo called Distracted, two nice voices; one of the girls plays guitar and did just that when they sang ‘Fireworks’, their other song was ‘Can’t Stop Believing’. There were some very nice outfits for the stage which I think is very important. As I said earlier only two can go to the final from each heat and the two acts chosen by the panel of judges, [Katie-Jo, Laura McCormick, Keith Jones and Rob Kerr], were, in no particular order, Angel Wareham and Anya Simpson. Well done you guys…
Left to right it's Anya Simpson and Angel Wareham, the second picture includes show presenter, Jonathan Carroll, Who's that on the lower picture? It's Pete Hammond and his lovely lady... They are regular supporters of Star Search.
