Only Four Competitors At Castleford Star Search.
It was quite a good attendance at Glasshoughton club for the 2011 Castleford Starsearch second heat. Jonathan Carroll opened the show with a song, (Moonlighting) and went on to introduce the judges and the sound man/producer of the competition.
First on was Pontefract singer Beth Rowett who has a good strong voice and looked good on stage. In her set she sang, ‘Show Me Heaven’, that was a very good song from Beth, another of her songs was, ‘Valerie’.
Next up was a Cliff Richard Tribute singer called Andrew Lloyd from Horbury Bridge near Wakefield. Andrew dressed the part and has the sound of Cliff in his voice. ‘I Could Easily Fall In Love’ and ‘Move It’ were a couple of Andrew’s songs; I enjoyed his version of ‘All My Love’, not often heard these days.
Jonathan came back on stage and sang, ‘In Your Eyes’ before introducing Normanton girl Jodie Alexandra on stage, she too looked good in her stage attire. Jodie sang in her set, Beyonce’s ‘Ave Maria’ and a good version of ‘Sex On Fire’
The final act was Wakefield’s Dan Smith; he dressed well or the stage too. Dan has a good voice and sang in the Michael Buble and Sinatra swing style. ‘Cry Me A River’ and ‘Mr Bojangles were just a couple of his songs.
The Judging Panel chose Andrew Lloyd, Jodie Alexandra and Dan Smith to go on to the ¼ finals. Beth was very unlucky, she put on a good show but alas only three can go forward.
