Heat 8 Of Castleford Star Search.
Glasshoughton club filled up very quickly on Wednesday night for the ‘Castleford Star Search’.
After Jonathan Carroll’s opening song,’ Turn Your Love Around’, a George Benson son, he introduced the first contestant, Sheffield’s ‘Tristan Drew’ who opened with a good up tempo song, ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’. He looked very smart from top to toe, Another of his songs was an Olly Murs song, ‘I Wear My Heart On My Sleeve’. A good performance.
Next up was Barnsley girl, Allie Crellin, again looking good in her stage outfit; Allie has a lovely voice and sang in her set, ‘Chasing Cars and Somebody To Love’. Another good performance from Allie. I first met Allie in a talent competition in The Fleets pub in Barnsley.
Next was a duo, Blessed’, from Barnsley; Laura Ridgway, who was dressed in a long white evening dress, she was accompanied by a young keyboards player called, Bless, he wore a white outfit and is a very good musician.’ Make You Feel My Love and One Night Only’ were a couple of their songs.
The next act was Manchester’s,’ Danielle Hobson’ who was second in last years competition, she was dressed in a short dress, Danielle has a superb voice and in her set she sang, ‘From This Moment, Get Happy and I Love Rock And Roll’. Another great performance.
Castleford’s Stephanie Sweeting was next; loved the outfit and of course I liked the shoes. Stephanie opened with an explosive, ‘Sex On Fire’ followed by ‘The Dark Days Are Over’. Yet another super performance from Stephanie.
The last, but by no means least was Horbury girl, Leanne Crowther looking great in a Maxi Dress and ‘Liked The Sandals’… Leanne has a lovely voice and sang in her set, ‘Punk Rocker’ and a different version of ‘Someone Like You’.
I would just add, that I like to see good shoes on stage and do not have a fetish. I liked every acts shoes tonight…
The judges hard quite a task choosing three to go on to the quarter finals and they are, in no particular order. ‘Leanne Crowther, Tristan Drew and Danielle Hobson’, what a good show well done each and every act… in their shoes "which I liked"...
Sitting in the concert room was a gentleman called Ian; He has a very unusual beard, have a look below..
Pictured left to right: Leanne Crowther, Tristan Drew, Danielle Hobson, Blessed, Allie Crellin, Stephanie Sweeting... Jonathan Carroll and "Ian", (Note the beard)... Jonathan and sound technician, Steve Paige who also produces the show.
