Honki Tonki At Gilly’s
Another first for me when I saw this two guys duo, Honki Tonki, at Gilly’s CMC on Tuesday night; Russell on guitar and Jerry on bass guitar are the two who make up the duo. Good singers and top harmonies, they even got two ladies on stage to help out with the harmonies on a song. As I always say the audience were good listeners and joined in where appropriate. Some of their songs were, Don Gibson’s,‘Sea Of
Heartbreak’, Hank Thompson’s, ‘Wild Sid Of Life’, Dave Dudley’s, ‘Six Days On The Road’ and many more; the one that brought back memories from my days in the
bands way back in the 60’s was Ned Millers, ‘From A Jack To A King’.I had a word
with Russell who told me that it’s a long time since Honki Tonki played in any
club where there were no line dancers.
The duo are excellent entertainers and musicians; remember the name, “Honki Tonki”... Left to right...Honki Tonki, Russell, Jerry and below it Melvyn and Mags....
