As I was unable to get to Gilly's CMC on Tuesday I got This Report From Chris, 'Gilly', Gill...
Another packed house at Gilly’s CMC in the Wakefield City Club and I mean packed to see award winning band WRANGLER, Cross country uk band of the year winners in 2005. Musician of the year Lee Jeffery 2006; Band of the year runners up 2006. Country routes northern star band of the year 2009. Wrangler was smartly turned out with a change of stage clothes for each set. These lads know their stuff and Lee is stunning on lead guitar. Songs they sang "They Call Me The Breeze", written by JJ Cale.. "Perfect Picture" by Doug Supernaw and "There Stands The Glass" by Web Peirce. One party had come from as far as Derbyshire. The down side to the evening is that they are to disband at the end of August due to rising prices in petrol and failing venues ... (but not ours fingers crossed) But the up side is they have agreed to do their 2nd to last gig at Gilly’s on August 16th. Their last gig will be at The Painted Wagon CMC, Croft, Darlington, on 28th August. What a big loss this will be to British country music but I’m sure everyone wishes them all the best. http://www.wranglerband.co.uk/index.html =
