The Darfield Village Club…
Well it was certainly a very different style of Charity show in aid of the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Harry Turnstyle opened the show with a couple of songs and some quick fire one liners. (Jokes). He introduced the first act on stage, From Wath On Dearne, ‘Back In Touch’, formerly known as The French Connection. Chris and Sarah are really tuned in with each other with the music and the first class harmonies. They opened with ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ followed by, ‘Valerie’, I’m A Believer’, and ‘Manic Monday’. Chris has a good line in comedy and brought tears of laughter to the eyes of a lady in the audience, I won’t tell you why. A very good duo, “Back In Touch”.
Next was another duo from Doncaster called …. Wait for it …. Boo Boo Be Doo, a Tribute to the Musicals and the 50’s. Leslea and Alan are the couple who make up this duo. They both have great voices and they dress in the style of the era’s to which they pay tribute. There were songs from the war years, e.g. ‘Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree’, there were the songs of the Andrews Sisters, songs from the shows of the era and some good old rock and roll. I liked their version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy… A very interesting duo…
The final act was a lady called Angie De Silva from near Penistone. Angie, who has a good strong voice, is a singer of music from the rock and roll era. She did however start with a Celine Dion song, ‘I’m Alive’ and continued with songs by, Chubby Checker and Jerry Lee Lewis.
A very good show that raised £385 of much needed money for the Bluebell Wood Hospice for Children…
