The Second Quarter Final... Report by Sue Cunniff… (Thanks My Dear)
There was a good house for the second ¼ final of the Castleford Starsearch on Wednesday at Glasshoughton WMC. Jonathan Carroll opened the show with – 'America' and went on to introduce the firs contestant, JAZZ. She wore a black and silver sequin long top and used the whole of the stage with her dance routines. cracking smile. ‘Rhythm is Gonna Get You’. ‘Dance with my Father’, ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’ and ‘Forget You’…
Second was Thomas Pywell; Dressed in jeans and a hooded shirt! This guy can really hold a note. Fantastic vocal range. Thomas sang in his set ‘Summer of 69’, ’Gave It All Away’, a Boyzone song,’ Losing My Mind’ by The Wanted and an amazing version of ‘Breath Easy’, a song by Blue…
Third was Jodie Alexandra - She looked stunning in skin tight leather look black leggings and a short sparkly vest showing off her belly button piercing. Jodie sang in her set ‘At Last’, an Etta james song that seems to be very popular these days, ‘Cry To Me’, From Dirty Dancing. ‘I Won't Let You Go’, a James Morrison song, Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours’, another good set from Jodie
Fourth was Thomas Henry looking Very smart in trousers shirt and tie. Cheeky chappy with a smile that lights up a room. Thomas sang in his set, Frank Sinatra’s ‘That's Life’, Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’,
‘Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me’, an Elton John & George Michael number and ‘You Raise Me Up’, The Westlife version…
Tristan Drew was next up he definitely looked the part in a bright red shirt, trousers and waistcoat. Tristan sang in his set, ‘I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight’, The scorpions ‘Winds Of Change’, Tristan struggled to finish and decided to call a day due to a bad throat. That was the sensible move on his part. I heard that he won the Mercury award for best male vocalist. Congratulations Tristan, well done...
The final act was Dan Smith - Dressed in a smart suit and white shirt; Dan has a super voice and sang in his set, ‘My Life’, a Bon Jovi rock number, ‘Come Fly With Me’ a Sinatra song, ‘Feeling Good’,(Michael Buble) and ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’, a Queen song..Dan really went for it on this one and reached some amazing notes.
The acts going to the semi finals are; Dan Smith, Jazz and Thomas Pywell…
Waiting for pictures...
