Great Ormond Street Charity Show At The Coliseum.
There was a good turnout at Castleford Tigers Coliseum Headquarters Marquee on Thursday night for this most worthy cause. The show was organised by Donna Foster and Darren Payne, the Castleford Tigers event Manager. Over £1,000 was raised on the night with entrance tickets, raffles and a new regular feature these days of, “Body Waxing”. Two Castleford players, Oliver Holmes and Johnny Payne, “Volunteered”? To be ‘Done’ and it looked to be a very painful experience.
Darren (AKA) Jonathan Carroll opened the show with a couple of songs included, ‘Give me The Night’; he went on to introduce Jamie McKnight who sang ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’ and ‘One Night Only’, Jamie was followed by ‘Tres Belles’, three young girls in Harmony, they sang in their set, ‘All American Girl’ and ‘Hush – Hush’; the next act was Jamie Ansbro who sang in his set ‘That’s My Goal’ and ‘Human’. Jamie’s voice is vastly improved… Enter Trevor Craig who recently came second in the Wakefield Star Search, he had been filming all day in Emmerdale and was visibly tired but he still appeared and sang well. ‘Miss You Nights’ and ‘I Drove All Night’ were a couple of Trevor’s songs.
15 years old Jess Walker was the next artiste; in just a few short weeks Jess has improved in her singing and confidence; she looked good too, (as did all the acts). ‘Who Knew’ and ‘Valerie’ were a couple from Jess. Next was Mike Summers, looking very smart, Mike sang in his set ‘Something Old Something New’ and ‘Me And Mrs Jones’. Jodie Alexandra, looking like a film star in a long designer robe was our next artiste. Beyonce’s, ‘Ave Maria’. Chelsea Radford was next, she dropped in to watch the show and volunteered to sing one for us, she chose, ‘Run’...
The final act of this glittering night of musical entertainment was Lucas Primmer, he sang an excellent version of ‘This Is The Moment’, he also sang ‘I Who Have Nothing’.
Jonathan finished the night off with a song and thanked everyone for their input. Not forgetting Steve Paige on sound, top class as always.
There are more shows planned for the Coliseum; watch this space…
