Horbury WMC Preview Show...
The Blackpool Command preview show bandwagon rolled into Horbury on Wednesday night, October 12th, appearing on the show was four acts. The New Wakefield, Pontefract & District Concert Secretaries Federation President, Stan Breedon, acted as MC for the night.
The first act was young singer Luke Murgatroyd; he looked very smart in a suit, shirt and tie, and polished shoes. Luke has a terrific voice and a good range. He chose to sing amongst other songs, ‘Give A Little Respect’, ‘Shang A Lang’ and ‘Brown Eyed Girl’. Luke was recently voted male singer of the year by the Leeds Concert Secretaries Federation. Well done Luke…
Next up was a newcomer to me, Danny Nichol. Danny was dressed casually smart and has a very good vocal range; he chose his songs carefully and sang, ‘Hold Up A Light’ which was amazing. He also included, ‘Home, Sex On Fire’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. A great prospect in our clubs and beyond…
After the interval we saw female vocalist, ‘Ktstar’, now this lady won the Hull Daily Mail Talent Trail earlier this year and deservedly so … Katie was dressed in a velvet green backless dress and… and I liked the shoes… ‘At Last’, ‘Perhaps – Perhaps’, ‘Bye Bye Blackbird’, ‘Holding Out For Hero’ and ‘Rolling In The Deep’ were some of Katie’s songs.
Last but by no means least it was Sheldon Bonner who as always looked immaculate in a silver grey suit, an orange shirt with a blue tie and wow, ‘those shoes’. Sheldon has a fine voice and knows which songs to sing. ‘Starlight’, Billy Paul’s, ‘Me And Mrs Jones’, Michael Buble’s ‘Lost’ and a couple of up tempo songs, ‘When You Walk In The Room’ and ‘It’s A Heartache’. Four super performances from four super artistes:-
