Blackpool Preview Show...
Girnhill Lane’s Coronation Club, (The Corra) in Featherstone, near Pontefract was the venue for the Blackpool Command preview show on Wednesday night; opening the show was a young man from Sunderland,‘David Brydon’. David has an excellent voice and was very smartly dressed in a black evening dress suit complete with a white shirt and bow tie. In his impressive set he sang, ‘Cry Me A River’, Ain’t That A Kick In The Head’ ‘That’s Life and a super version of, ‘Mack the Knife’.
Up next was a musical/comedy duo from Manchester; Mark and Stewart are both excellent singers and are very funny. Their opening song was, ’Sex On Fire’. the comedy was good especially when they sang ‘Bad Romance’ with Mark dressed in a dress made from Coca –Cola cans. There were lots of costume changes in their act. More of the songs were, ‘Nessum Dorma’, ‘At Last’ and a medley of Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Martha And The Vandellas. An excellent spot from,The Victorians!
James Brandon was the next artiste on stage; James was very smart dressed in a black dress suit and white shirt. LTS he opened his set with the madness song, ’Welcome To The House Of Fun’. There followed a class act of comedy, (not revealing the jokes here folks).a send up of a very young Elvis. The highlight of the act for me was when he sang, ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’, pretending to play a violin. James Brandon folks, a top class artiste...
The final act, Rectro Electro, was a trio, one girl and two boys, who were dressed in red and black. All three played keyboards and synthesisers. Lots of the songs were new to me as was the style of music. I did like their version of, ‘Dancing In the Street’ which was their encore. A great night of entertainment at the Corra...
