Here we are in Alverthorpe Club where we saw a band called, Lady Z And The Monsters fronted by Hull singer, Zara. I saw the band a few weeks ago at a showcase in Dodworth near Barnsley where they went down the proverbial bomb. They opened with an Adele song, 'Set Fire To The Rain', a good opener. Zara has a really powerful voice and a good range. There was a super version of Tina Turners' 'Proud Mary', one called, 'Respect'. More songs were, 'Young Hearts Run Free'. 'Footsteps On The Dance Floor’, Lots more from The Monsters. This is an excellent band from Hull. Don't miss them when they come to a venue near you. For all you dancers this is a great band to dance to.
Westgate Common Club welcomed Lee Lambert; Lee was in fine voice tonight, but then he always is. He always dresses well for the stage. He was congratulating a lady on her birthday. He sang 'We Don't Cry Out Loud', and for the birthday girl he sang Gary Barlow's, 'Let Me Go'. And for the dancers, 'Amarillo', Tony Christie’s hit song from a few years ago. One from Robbie Williams, 'Angels', yes Lee was in fine form. In the set Pat and I saw, Lee sang quite a few boy band songs. He ended his set with an Olly Murs song, 'I Just Want You To Dance With Me Tonight'. Lee got one of biggest fans to dance with him. Great stuff Gladys.
The Bandwagon rolled on to the Admiral Duncan where the band tonight was, Red Dog. The music was good and Matt has a great voice, the band sang lots of songs that sounded familiar, I didn't know any of them but they were enjoyable and the musicians are excellent. This was the final band under this regime of the 'Duncan'. New Tenants take over on Monday; I sure hope they keep the bands going.
