My second visit tonight was at Smawthorne Lane WMC where the lovely Kim B was the artiste on stage. The club was pretty busy when I arrived and Kim was already on stage. She was dressed in a short dress decorated with gold sequins, Like The Shoes. Kim’s voice is good and clear; some of her songs were, Abba’s ‘Super Trouper‘, Girls Aloud’s, ’Sound Of The Underground’. ’Sway’, a Shania twin song, ’That Don’t Impress me Much’ . Kim is coming on in leaps and bounds these days. Great to listen to. Another couple of her songs were an Amy Winehouse song and one recorded by a number of people and some clubs ban, ’Penny Arcade’. well it was certainly well received here in Smawthorne Lane. Well done, Kim ’B’.
Destination, Prince Of Wales Club. The Artiste tonight is Gracy 'B', this lady was here in this club on Thursday night in the Blackpool Command Preview show. She looked beautiful in her stage wear, like the shoes. Gracy is a Lady GaGa tribute act too. Her stage wear tonight was equally as impressive as when I saw her on Thursday. Tonight Gracy 'B' opened her show with, '.I'm Alive', that's a Celine Dion song you know, this next song is a Bryan Adams song, 'The Summer Of '69. There were quite a few here in the club tonight which is good to see; next was a Shirley Bassey song, after was a sing along. Journey were featured in Gracy B's show as was Susan Maughan with, 'Bobby's Girl'. A nice set from Gracy, 'B'. Her closing song was a Shirelles song and big hit, 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow'. Well done that lady ..
Tonight We Are Going Wherever Pat Wants To Go And That Is To See Fuel This top class band is in Horbury WMC tonight, we, I think, will see the first set, we have seen this band a few times over the years and still they are a force to be reckoned with. Leighton, Chris and Michael are Always smart in appearance, three great voices and a sound system second to none. Tonight their first song was, '. The Flood, 'The Greatest Day', a Take That hit. Onto a Take That medley, they included a song that Pat and I like, 'You Raise Me Up', as I said, the harmonies are top class. This next song is one by U2, 'With Or Without You', I Will Go Wherever You Will Go', If I Could, the Calling.? The set was closed with a Michael Buble song. Truly a great band. Fuel. ______________________________________________________________________________ Christina Myers In Great Form. On now to see Christina Myers in Westgate Common Club. She looked good in a blue dress, like the shoes. Her voice is excellent, we arrived in time for her second set, she was singing 'All About The Bass', she sang one of her own favourites, one by Faith Hill, 'There You'll Be'. Christina's dad was her sound engineer who also has a terrific voice. This next song is one by the Pussy Cat Dolls but,, originally a Dean Martin song, 'Sway', Pat liked a song called, 'Love Me Like You Do'. There was a song called, 'Dear Future Husband'. The Admiral Duncan Welcomes The Dirty Souls.
I just went out for an hour tonight, feeling a tad tired after the last few nights out. I headed for the Admiral Duncan on Thornes Lane in Wakefield; had a chat with a few of my friends and then it was home James, well Trevor then. The band tonight was a new one for me called the Dirty Souls, a Soul band with a few Motown songs thrown in. Some of the bands music they play and sing are, Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson, The Four Tops, Gloria Jones and Booker T and The M, G's, just a few to whet your appetite. This is a four piece band comprising of two guitars, a keyboard and a drummer. The music sounds good, the song they are singing right now is, 'Baby Everything Is Alright' or is it Uptight? Next was, 'Sugarpie Honey Bunch,'. They sound quite good, all four in the band sing and the harmonies are quite good too. Look out for The Dirty Souls band' This Is A Further Preview Show, (Audition) For The Blackpool Command Show. This is to be held at The Horseshoe Bar on Friday, April 8th. 2016.
Husband and wife duo Jonny and Lynnette were on top form tonight. Country songs old and new performed in great style. This fine country duo's presence on stage is always immaculate with at least three changes of costume throughout the night. So Nice clothes, nice P.A Great songs and of course good voices ! No wonder we see a lot of them on The Smith & Rodgers country show on Sky channel 192.One song that stood out for me was a song called “Hung up on you” By a New York punk/rock band “The Fountains Of Wayne” recorded back in 2003. More songs on the night was Loretta Lynn's, ‘After The Fire Is Gone’, and George Jones and Brenda Carter's, ‘Milwaukee Here I Come. A guaranteed full house for ‘Gilly’s Listening Crowd. Line dance, Listening and even Birthday events this couple, Lynette and Johnny, is a must ! Don’t Miss The Collier Dixon Line next week .‘Be Early For't Best Seats‘, At Gilly’s Traditional Country Music Club.
Here we are in The Prince Of Wales WMC Pontefract.
The first act tonight is Ackworth singer Joseph O'Brien. He looks very smart in a suit, shirt and tie, like the shoes. Joseph has an excellent voice and a superb personally.his first song was, 'Cry To Me', his second song was, 'To Love Somebody'. Joe's songs hit home immediately he walked on stage. The song he is singing now is, 'Im Having. Party', a Sam Cook song; he picked on Bethany's mum for the next song, 'When A Man Loves A Woman'. Effortless key changes impressed me, there was Lots more from Joseph O'Brien. He switched to guitar for his last song with Ed Sheeran's, 'Thinking Out Loud'. Next is a lovely young lady from Barnsley who is doing well for herself in show business, I give you, Bethany Brooke's. She too has a lovely voice and always looks great on stage in a long glittery gown, like the shoes. Bethany opened her show with, 'Proud Mary'. Great moves to go with her songs. Bethany's second song was an Adele song, 'Someone Like You'. Song number 3 is 'I'm Alive'. A Celine Dion song, she sure puts some energy into her up tempo songs. Bethany closed her set with a Bruno Mars song, 'Treasure'. The third act is South Elmsall's Martin McGuire, he too is dressed for the occasion in a suit, shirt and tie, like the shoes. Martin too has a fine voice and is a very funny man, his first song was, 'Billy Don't Be A Hero', one from a band called, Paper Lace. And in this medley was a Song called, ' The Night Chicago Died'. Martin sang one I've liked for many years, 'Answer Me', A Nat King Cole hit from the 40s .Next was David Alexander song. Martin has some superb backing tracks, this one is a Neil Diamond song, 'Sweet Caroline', one from Michael Buble. Martin's final song was a Queen song' 'One Vision'. With hilarious results. Interval Next is a lovely lady from Leeds called, Gracy B, looking good in her stage wear, like the shoes, I saw Gracy B in a show at Carlton Social Club near Leeds and liked her show there. She opened her set with, 'Walking On Sunshine', by Katrina and The Waves, 'Bad Moon Rising', a Creedance Clearwater Revival song. Gracy will be appearing here at the Prince Of Wales on Sunday 18th. The next song is 'Nutbush City', she closed her set with one I haven't heard in years called, 'Caravan Of Love', a House Martins hits. Carl Stephens Normanton was our final entertainer for tonight, dressed in a very smart suit with white shirt and, like the shoes. He opened with, 'If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body', a Bellamy Brothers song. Carl has a fine easy to listen to voice. One from the Bee Gees,'Words'. Many more songs followed, I like Carl's version Roy Orbison's, 'Only The Lonely', I liked, 'California Blue'. One from Smokie, 'Mexican Girl', A good set from Carl Stephens. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> George Vth Castleford, Is Our Destination Tonight.
This was the second of the Blackpool Command Preview Shows. The club is a very popular venue for acts in the entertainment business. It was a full house here tonight. Acts appearing as on the Poster, Sam Hoyle's, Chris Britton, TRIPLE X Andy Lee Marsh and Hannah Delaney. Unfortunately Bonnie has a very sore throat and was disappointed not to be able to be with us. The first act is a lady from Blackpool , Hannah Delaney; Hannah looked lovely in her stage outfit, like the shoes. Her opening song was,’ Every Breath You Take'. Hannah has a lovely, nay, beautiful voice which showed with her variety of songs. The one she is singing now is from Les Miserable, it is, 'I Dreamed A Dream'. One to get the audience singing along to was, 'Bobby's Girl', a Susan Maughan hit song. There were more and each were excellent. Well done Hannah. The next act is, Sam Hoyle, casually smart on stage, he has a nice voice and carefully chooses his songs. He first song was a Michael Buble son, 'Cry Me A River', this was followed by a Jason Mraz song, 'I'm Yours', 'Blame It On Me'. Most of Sam's songs are modern. So I'll just listen and if I recognise any ill let you know. Oh I know this by Michael Buble, 'I Just Haven't Met You Yet'. Another of Jason Mraz's songs but I don't the title. Sam's last song was another Michael Buble song. Well done Sam. The last act in the first half is, comedian Chris Britten. Obviously I won't repeat the jokes, Chris is very well dressed , he has a very pleasant manner and his jokes were very funny, I've pinched a couple for me. Part two of the show, guitar vocalist Andy Lee Marsh opened with a Crispian St Peters song, ‘You Were On My Mind', Andy looked good in his stage outfit, he has a good voice and can he play that there Guitar. His next song was an Eagles song from the 70's, 'Take It Easy'. Next was a Walker Brothers song, 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More', onto a Gary Puckett song, 'Young Girl'. I just love these songs from Yesteryear. Yes, very enjoyable Andy Lee Marsh. A terrific set... The last but not least act tonight its Kevin, Colin and Bob who are, Triple X; the intro music was Dr Who's music, their first song was, 'Take Me To The River', the two guitarists are brilliant. There was a medley of songs from the past that included the Beatles, one called 'I Just Want You To Dance With Me Tonight', The Kings Of Leon's, !Human'' by request, there were plenty of dancers on the floor for this super act. They must have heard the last remark 'cos they're now singing, 'Dance The Night Away'. This has been an excellent night of entertainment. One of the later songs was, 'You To Me Are Everything '. Yes folks a good ending to a good show. The last song was a Tina Turner song, 'The Best'. All the artistes are in the poster. As stated, Bonnie was unable to appear and Hannah Delaney stepped in. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><> Tonight in the Nash. (Albion Street WMC Castleford). On stage tonight was Carl Stephens. He stood in for the advertised artiste. I just had time for a couple of songs from Carl, one was a Roy Orbison song. Carl was, through no fault of his, brought in at the very last minute to help out. I just heard a couple of songs one of which was a Roy Orbison Song. Glasshoughton Club was busy for, Starsearch. On stage when I arrived was a young lady with a lovely voice called, Melissa Louisa Temprell, she looked good in her stage outfit, just a couple of songs were, 'Somebody To Love' and 'Make You Feel My Love'. Next was Stephen Hale, he looked good in a casual way, he has a good strong voice. I'm not going to reveal the songs he sang, suffice to say they suited his voice. Third on was a young I have known for a year or two, Sky Adams who was dressed for the occasion. Like the shoes Sky, She too chose all the right songs for her voice. Now it's time for the interval. The first act in the second half was a two sisters duo in harmony called Mirror Image. They looked good in their stage wear, like the shoes. A couple of their songs were, 'Going To The Chapel', and 'Stay', and another couple of songs, well done girls. The final act was a young man from Hull called Dylan James, he dresses well for the stage in a suit and shirt. He sang in his set a Luther Van Dross song and one from The Temptations. A superb voice. He closed his with a Jimmy Ruffin song. Going on to the quarter finals, Sky Adams, Dylan James and Steven Hayle Pictured left /right Steven Hayle, Dylan James and Sky Adams ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
