Sarah Lee Scott was the act at Glasshoughton on Monday Night when I called in; I often drop in on Mondays to meet up with Brian Cliff. This club is doing well these days due to a very hard working and forward thinking committee. Sarah looked good in her stage attire; she has a good PA system and most of all a lovely voice. She sang songs of all eras and styles’. Sarah also accompanies her self on electric piano in her act, a good sign. Some of her songs were Madonna’s‘Material Girl’ a couple of Shania Twain country songs, Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ and Steelers Wheel’s ‘Stuck In The Middle’. This was my first viewing of Sarah and I liked what I saw. Thank you for the entertainment Sarah Lee Scott Don't Miss The BeardSmith Family Band At The Lupset On Horbury Road Wakefield...Wednesday October12th 2011.
'Supporting Act,The Sharpe Experience Comedy Duo.. Horbury WMC – WF4 5DB
Wednesday October 12th. Sheldon Bonner, Ktstar, Luke Murgatroyd, Danny Nichols and Alicia Brady. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Prince Of Wales, Pontefract WF8 2PG- Thursday October 13th. Bubbles, Carefree, Mark Ellis, Caitlen Bailey and Vicky Louise. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta In The Lupset… The Lupset was pretty busy on Saturday night when John Davis’s Country/Rockband Atlanta was the Star attraction. Again, some great musicians. John himself is lead singer and guitarist; most of his songs we heard were his own compositions but there were a few covers that included, ‘When You Say Nothing At All’, (With guest singer “Mick McGinley”) and Whiskey In The Jar. A top band, 'Atlanta'. You may already know that Mick and Sue are leaving the Lupset on November the 7th after five great years; the place won’t be the same. Check out the acts coming up this month and into early November on this blog… E.g. Wednesday it’s the great family band, ‘BeardSmith who are also set to appear on Sunday, November 6th. Back To The Future... Back To The Future… Horbury WMC welcomed this three girl pop band, ‘Back To The Future’ on Saturday night; wow they are a real high energy trio, Lisa, Jo and Claire put every thing in to their performances. The choreography, the singing and the harmonies are all there. They sang ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, ‘Holding Out For A Hero’, ‘Mickey’ and ‘Uptown Girl’, amongst many others. The stage attire is in keeping with the eras of the songs they choose; (LTS!), the dance floor was busy and a good time was had by all. Rockwood Rockwood In Crigg… A very smart 5 piece band ,‘Rockwood’ appeared at Crigglestone on Saturday night; Pat just loves the 60’s and 70’s music as I do. The band consists of a bass guitarist, lead and rhythm guitars a drummer and a keyboard player, all very good musicians. A great sound and some brilliant harmonies. ‘Here It Comes Again’, ‘Falling Apart At The Seams’, ‘Loving Things’ were just a few of their songs. Lovin’ It…
The artiste on the Friday night shows in Alverthorpe Club. was a boy/girl duo called, ‘Lovin’ It’. Musically and vocally they are very good if a bit loud for me. This is a modern act; their stage wear is casually smart , both have great voices and their PA equipment is top class. Most of the songs in the opening part of the show were Rap songs although they did sing a few that I recognised. ‘Staying Alive’ ‘Valerie’, 'I Wanna Be A Billionaire’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believing’. They did say that most of their work is in Holiday camps. An excellent duo, “Lovin’ It’… John Gillan In The City Over in The City club Singer/Comedian John Gillan was in fine form; not a lot of people there but the ones who were there were having a ball. John called the bingo! Hilarious was the verdict of one lady who John had been ribbing, (I think she loved the attention). John went back on stage and showed off his superb voice as he sang the requests of the members. He included a comedy duet of Elvis and Mario Lanza as he sang, ‘O Sole Mio’ and‘It’s Now Or Never’. (Same tune). Other songs were, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’, ‘The Music Of The Night’, He finished his night with Matt Monro’s. ‘If I Never Sing Another Song’. What a showman, John Gillan… Pictured below, 'Lovin' It' as a trio, (the lady on the right was missing) and John Gillan... Blackpool Command Preview Show…
What a turnout for this the second preview show at Rotherham’s Trades Club; there were six acts on tonight. The first act was Laura Ellis who has a wonderful and strong voice; she looked great in her stage outfit. Laura chose to sing, ‘Million Dollar Bill’, ‘Someone Like You’, ‘Hot Stuff’ ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. The one I liked best was Heart’s ‘Alone’. I Loved it Laura. The second act was Lucas Primmer. He looked very smart, he too has a good strong voice and his song choices were,‘One Moment In Time’, ‘I Drove All Night’, ‘Tainted Love’ and ‘This Is My Life’. A good set Lucas... Next up was two guys duo called, Top Marks; two good looking guys with great voices; good harmonies and choice of material, well I think they were excellent. They started the set with a Motown Medley continuing with Adele’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’. The finished their set with a swing song, ‘Me And My Shadow’. After the interval Natalie Ann took the stage. She looked great in her outfit, black trousers and a red Basque edged in black. Natalie sang, ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, Adele’s ‘Fire’, Just The Way You Are’ and ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’. Another good show from Natalie Anne… Andrew Pashley was the next act; very smart in a three piece suit and smart tie. Andrew has an excellent and very powerful voice and he is a true showman. Some of his songs were, ‘True’, Just A Gigolo’, ‘In Your Eyes’ and a great version of, ‘Like Sister And Brother’. I liked his show Last but not least was a band called ‘Ice’. A lead singer, two guitarists and an excellent drummer. There were harmonies which were quite good I just heard their first song which was, ‘The One’ which I enjoyed. unfortunately I had to leave at this point but was told they were a very good band. The preview shows bandwagon rolls into Horbury on Wednesday night; be early for a seat, this club usually gets very busy…Pictured Below, L/R Laura Ellis, Top Marks, Natalie Anne, Lucas Primmer, Andrew Pashley and Ice... |
