Natalie - Anne Glasshoughton WMC Welcomes Natalie Anne. Well I expected to see an act called Katanya at Glasshoughton, a singer I had previously never seen but when I got there I found a change of artiste; it was the lovely Natalie Ann from Wakefield. She came on stage in a long dress and LTS. Natalie Anne has just acquired a new Senheiser Condenser microphone and it sounded well. Some of her songs were, 'Pearl’s A Singer’, ‘One Night Only’, ‘Summer Of ‘69’, ‘Valerie’ and a great version of Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. The club was fairly busy as is usual here on Monday nights. Somewhere to go and see an artiste...Glasshoughton WMC... Big Time Charlie At The Lupset...
I didn’t stay at the Lupset overnight but I was there at 4pm when the terrific band Big Time Charlie were on stage; what a band, four great musicians and vocalists. On keyboards and lead singer it’s Martin , he brought the band together; on lead guitar it’s Kevin a very experienced musician and excellent guitarist, the drummer is Simon who keeps the band really tight and on bass it’s Liam who also sings harmonies. Together a very accomplished band. Some of the songs today were, ‘Oliver’s Army’, ‘Use somebody’, ‘Dancing On the Ceiling’, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and another Queen song which guest singer Mike Linskey sang, ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’. The Lupset was very busy and a great time was had by all... You really have to see Big Time Charlie when you see them billed near you... Attention All Quarter Finalists Of Castleford Star Search 2011
Steve Paige has asked me to announce that the Semi Final Draw will take place on Wednesday Night, October 26th after the fourth quarter final. So Please Be Patient. I will post the semi finals list on here on Thursday morning. Thank You… Welcome To The Motel California...
I didn’t get that wrong, that is the name of the tribute to the Eagles band that appeared at a very busy Lupset on Saturday night. This is a six piece outfit consisting of a lead singer who plays guitar, two lead guitarists, who both sing, a drummer who also plays saxophone, a bass guitarist who sings and a keyboards player who sings. Together they make the great sound of the Eagles. They played the songs that everyone knows, ‘Lying Eyes’, ‘Welcome To The Hotel California’,‘New Kid In Town’, ‘How Long has This Been Going On’ and A Heartache Tonight’, as well as songs that I and many others didn’t really know but were authentic Eagles songs. After all that Motel California were very entertaining... Crofton WMC Love Sonya.
The concert room was very busy when Sonya appeared on Saturday night; this lady is a great singer and is a very funny comedienne. She was dressed in a black cat suit, edged with gold and I LTS. Her opening song in this her second set was, ‘I’m Alive’, followed by a medley of songs from days gone by, ‘Run Around Sue’, ‘Green Door’, ‘Julie’ and ‘This Old House’, the last three were Shakin’ Stevens hits sung in a medley. Sonya had the members on her side as they sang along to more oldies, ‘I Saw Her Standing There, ‘Do Wah Diddy’, (they loved that). Bon Jovi’s ‘Living On A Prayer’; She closed her set with Celine Dion’s ‘Think Twice’. A great set filled with the music the members liked and off the cuff comedy.. What and entertainer in Sonya... The Candy Shop Is Open’
Girnhill Lane WMC was busy on Saturday night for the visit of ‘Candy Shop’; Bubbles, (Julie) and Michelle make up this very entertaining duo, two terrific singers and lovely to look at too. They have a construction resembling the front of a Candy Shop on stage. When their intro music was being played I had visions of Elvis entering the building; their first song however was, ‘The Candy Man’. The girls were dressed in white outfits. There were quite a few quick costume changes on stage to suit the songs they sang. More of the songs were, ‘On A Night Like This’, ‘Big Spender’ and ‘Stay Another Day’. You should go Julie and Michelle who are ‘Candy Shop’; they are very entertaining... Bonnie In Ladybalk Club, Pontefract. I called in at the Ladybalk WMC on Friday night; I hadn’t looked to see who the artiste engaged was so it was a pleasant sight to see ‘Bonnie’. She looked lovely in a long black evening dress and LTS… bonnie has a strong voice with quite a good range. She has just bought some new speakers which sounded great. In the first set I saw she sang lots of Motown songs, songs by Brenda Lee, The Shirelles, Marie Osmond, Shania Twain, Patsy Cline and Adele. A good selection of songs there. Picture This In The City.. I recently posted a piece about Paul Graham who is half of the Picture This duo along with Angie B, He has been in the music business for 31 years now, I am going to award him one of my ‘Oscars’ for this anniversary. Well I caught up Picture This at the Wakefield City Club; it was bingo time when I arrived but didn’t have to wait too long to see and hear then on stage. Picture This carry a top class PA and very impressive lights which work on a sound to light system. As it was the dance set they were dressed casually smart, a la disco. Some of their songs were ‘I Got A Feelin’, Take That’s ‘Shine’, ‘Summer Of 69’, ‘Bad Romance’ and many more. A super duo, great harmonies and good backing tracks and two super people...
