Glasshoughton Star Search.
Opening up tonight was the compère, Harry Turnstyle who sang one of his favourite songs, 'My First My Last My Everything', a few of his one liners and a couple of jokes followed.
Harry introduced The first contestant tonight ,Hayley Fitzgerald, she looked good in a pure white jacket, black top and trousers, like the shoes.. She opened her set with a song called, 'Hold On', a Wilson Phillips song. Hayley has a good strong voice. There was a lovely Tammy Wynette song called, 'Cowboys Don't Shoot Straight '. Coming up, 'Proud Mary', a good singer / Entertainer. The song that did it for me was Whitney Houston's, 'I Have Nothing'. A brilliant set from Hayley...
The second singer was, Ben Loy who was dressed Casually smart, he opened his set with, A Roxette song 'Listen To Your Heart', sang an Amy Winehouse song, 'Back To Black', a couple of Ben's songs I liked but didn't really know them. His last song was a song sung in the Tom Jones style, 'I Who Have Nothing', a good set from Ben Loy.
Leading up to the interval was Castleford girl, Jess Edwards, she is casually dressed and looks good, a guitar vocalist whose first song was, 'Dancing On My Own' a song by Robin. The next was, 'Wagon Wheels', An Old Crow Medicine Show Band song.. There was one called 'The Way', written by Jess. Well done that girl.
Harry came back on stage and sang, 'Spirit In The Sky', a couple of joke to open the second half.
He introduced Barnsley singer, Paul Nixon who is also an acoustic guitar vocalist. His first song was a Beatles song, 'Come Together'. The next one was a Sinead O'Conner song, 'Nothing Compares To You', there was, 'Purple Rain' recorded by Prince. Just another from Paul Nixon. A good set...
