In contrast, Outwood Club was very busy in the concert room; on stage was singer /
comedian, John Gillan. The bingo was in progress when I arrived with John sitting on a chair in the middle of the stage waiting for it to finish. His expressions were priceless. The bingo finally ended and John opened his second set with ‘I Drove All Night’ and one called, ‘Back On My Feet Again’.
What a singer an entertainer this guy is, he had the Outwood members rolling with laughter. He has a fine tenor voice and often is asked for ‘Nessum Dorma’ that he sings in Italian. Another couple of his songs, (As I don’t reveal his jokes), were ‘The Night Has a 1,000 Eyes and the David Alexander version of, ‘The Working Man’. Well done John Gillan…
