Westgate Common WMC Our second visit tonight to see a Rock a Billy band, Doggone Daddy's. There sound is very good two guitars, drums and a double bass, 'ang on, there's only the I the band. but hey they have a guy who is lead singer, guitarist and drummer. This next song is the very first Elvis Presley song, ever, one for his mother, 'That's Alright Mama'. Hey the guy singing that song has a marvellous voice. One by the early Drifters, 'Fools Fall In Love'. Again, I looked around the room and saw the members enjoying both the music and the history of country music. Love the double bass and that guy Playing it. The next song was a really old version of, 'Blue Moon'. This was a hit in a different tempo for The Marcelles. A song called, 'We Gotta Go Home', missed the artist. There was one by Jase Everett called 'I Wanna Do Bad Things With You', Well you can't say there's no variety in Westgate Common club. The last song in the set was a Safaris instrumental called, Wipe Out'.
A Very Busy George Vth Club. Yes folks, a full club greeted us tonight. On stage is a male / female duo called, 'Innuendo', Mel and Tony are the two people who make up the duo. Mel was wearing a short black dress, like the shoes, Tony was in black top complete with motifs and black trousers. The sound and lights are excellent. The first song, sung in harmony, was, 'Do You Like Good Music', a real live opener, this was followed by a great version of, 'Proud Mary'. There were some great rock songs in this set by the likes of Bryan Adams, Newton Faulkner, Meatloaf with one of our favourites, 'You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth'. This really is a good mix of material, looking round the room, judging by the looks on the members faces they were enjoying Innuendo's show. I liked the Barry White song, 'You're My First My Last My Everything '. This attracted the dancers, what a super atmosphere. Thank you Innuendo, a Real Thing song completed a very entertaining first set.
Top Marks In The B&S The B&S Club was very busy tonight: on stage were two great entertainers, Top Marks, they were wearing matching suits, like the shoes. I arrived part way into their first set; they were singing a Motown medley. The dance moves and Choreography was good. It's been some time since I heard these guys. They closed the set with a ballad, Billy Joel's, 'The Piano Man', brilliant guys. I really must catch up with Top Marks for a full set. Pocket Rocket In Ladybalk Social Club. On to Lady Balk Social Club, where I saw a guy the same size as me, Pocket Rocket, he also looked very smart on stage and yes, like the shoes. Pocket Rocket, (Herein after called Paul), opened his second set with 'Let Me Go', one from Gary Barlow, brilliant Paul. the lights are superb, the tracks equally so, coming up was a Motown song, 'There Goes My First Love', one from the Drifters, yes Paul the people in here were thoroughly enjoying the entertainment. A member of the audience, Ted, joined in an Elvis song, 'The Wonder Of You', in fact Fred sang most of the song. Malcolm Cunningham gave us a short dancing demonstration, he's good at that you know. Next was a song by Erasure, 'Give A Little Respect', lots more followed, lots of hilarious comedy between Malcolm and Paul, just enjoying Paul's show. Red Red Wine' was his next song, I love Reggae music and Paul makes a good job of it. He closed the set with a Robbie Williams song, 'She's The One'. SUNDAY JUNE 28th.AT

DON'T MISS THIS PIECE OF HISTORY. Tonight I am in Albion Street WMC, (The Nash). On stage it's, 'John Fitzpatrick', who is immaculately dressed, 'like the shoes. A perfectionist when it comes to sound and presentation, no problems there folks. He opened his first set with a Craig Douglas song, 'Only Sixteen', a good opener, songs by Jimmy Justice. Englebert Humperdinck was featured as was Julie Rogers, this was a request from a lady in the audience. There were some funny one liners there was a song from Tony Christie. There was quite a good house here in the Nash and I expect it will fill even more as the night goes. There were many more songs. It was a good show from John as usual. He closed this the first set with an old favourite, 'Love Is All'. A few of John's songs in the second set were an Elvis Presley hit, 'Return To Sender', a Sir Cliff hit followed when john sang, 'Lucky Lips', . Lots of the songs we don't hear too often and john puts them into his show, a different approach that goes well in the clubs. 'Out Of Time, one from the Back Street Boys. Well folks I have enjoyed tonight, good music, a good singer and some top company. . . Thank you everyone. BTW, Sharon had a win on the Bingo...
Another Busy House Tonight. On stage was an excellent singer / entertainer in the form of Sasha 'T'. Sasha always looks good on stage, like the shoes. She was wearing black and white shorts, the pattern is of a keyboard, a shiny black top and a silk scarf. Her first song was a new on me, (You Make Me)' 'Mighty Real', a Queen song followed, 'Those Were The Days Of My Life'. It's been a while since I saw Tracy and I think her performance is much improved. The song choices are good, this one she is singing now,'Da Do Ron Ron', a Crystals hit went down well. One for Mr T was, 'Then He Kissed Me', The choreography is good, it fitted spot on with the songs. Many more that we're going well BUT I'm just going to sit back and enjoy, SASHA T. She closed an impressive song with, 'Rockin' All Over The World'. Great stuff Sasha...
FULL HOUSE IN GILLY'S Gilly's was another place where you need to be early to secure s good seat. If you have never been to Gilly's it's the 'In Place', for Traditional Country Music. Entry is free but it would be nice if you bought a couple of raffle tickets to keep the place going. Tonight is a special treat for me, on stage is the terrific duo, 'WHISKEY'. The lady, Kathy Parr is a good friend from a few years ago, shw plays guitar and is a strong vocalist; her partner is John, he plays guitar and sings too. Kathy's voice is still good and so is John's, they sing in note perfect harmony, the song they are singing at the moment is a song about Johnny Cash. Following this was, 'I Wanna Get Closer', and one called, 'Cold Hearted'; more close harmonies. One I particulary liked was a Skeeter Davis song, 'Silver Threads And Golden Needles', I could listen to Whiskey all night, they really are good. The next song was one about 50 Shades Of Grey to the tune of 'Forty Shades Of Green'. This really was very funny. Whiskey closed this set with, 'Desperado'. Another great show in Gilly's Traditional Country Music Club. |
