The Hull Daily Mail Star Search...
I was invited to the Railway Public house in Cottingham near Hull on Wednesday night for one of the heats in the Newland Agency sponsored Star Search. The compere for all the competition is my good friend, Dave Norman and his lovely missus Vicky is looking after the sound.
The first singer was a young lady with a lovely voice called, Anya who sang, ‘Blue Jeans’ and ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’. A great start to a smashing evening.
Next was a duo called, Mr & Mrs who are in fact Monty and his bubbly wife Tallulah, (not her real name). They sang and acted, a Johnny Cash song, ‘Texas’ and ‘Keep It All In’.
A very funny show from these two. “Tony”, was the next act, he has a strong voice and sang, ‘Forever Love’ and ‘Walking In Memphis’.
'Joanne' looked great in her stage wear, she has a good voice and sang ‘Black Velvet’ and (partly in Italian), ‘Time To Say Goodbye’. What a voice... Joanna progressed to the next round...
Claire Snow, again, a good voice, Claire sang, ‘Anything I Do I Do It For You’ and ‘Price Tag’. Yet another good performance.
Anna Beaumont has a sweet voice, looks good and sang, ‘Fallin’ and ‘Song Bird’.
You must forgive me for a minute but the next singer was a lady known as the Bag Lady.? Her contribution to the competition was Elvis Presley’s ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight’ and ‘You Were Always On My Mind’. The bag lady was good fun...
The final act was a band called, Fixers’. Quite good musicians and a good frontman, they sang ‘Substitute’.I had a great time with some old and new friends in Hull.
