The Double six on Kirkgate in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in the 60’s, This pub was built in 1836, known first as The Baltic, then The Rose Inn, Then in 1867 as The Granville. First owned by Carters Victoria Brewery, passing hands many times until taken over by Sam Smiths. Do you remember seeing live groups there or at any other pubs along Kirkgate and Westgate such as The Crown and Anchor, Bee Hive or the Great Bull Hotel, if so we would like to hear from you.
We would also like to hear from you if you have any photographs of Wakefield , not just pubs, but those would be much apreciated if we could have copies of such, but any old photo’s of Wakefield, the older the better , We are always on the lookout to borrow photographs, these will be returned along with our thanks, or we would buy them if need be.
