The Beverley Arms; Ackworth…
The Beverley Arms is on the roundabout on Doncaster Road in Ackworth. In the past few months they have introduced live entertainment with artistes booked on Tuesday nights. The regular host and compere, Andy Dunn was ill so local man, Johnny Evans stepped in at literally the last minute. Anyone who knows Johnny will tell you that he has to be one of the best dressed artiste/comperes around; he was dressed in a dark suit that was inlaid with gold thread, a gold handkerchief in the top pocket a classy shirt and tie and gold shoes. He tells a good joke and sings what people like. In his opening set he sang ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’. He introduced teenager Amelia Davis who looked great in a gold sparkly top over black leggings with shoes to match. ‘I’m Alive’, ‘The Rose, and ‘In The Ghetto’ were just a few of her songs. Amelia has a good voice and a good presentation.
There were more people in since the last time I was there. The place is getting a good reputation for its Tuesday entertainment. Have a ride down and see for your self…
